Features

RECEIVING TANK: Heavy steel construction, mounted on steel legs, and fitted with thermometer and gauge glass.

MAKEUP WATER VALVE: All-bronze float actuated valve, flange mounted in tank head, permits entry of makeup water, when required, to replace system losses. Complete with strainer on makeup water connection.

PUMPS: Regenerative peripheral turbine vane type, vertically split, with removable covers and channel rings, ball bearings, stainless steel shaft, bronze impeller and mechanical shaft seals.

MOTORS: Drip-proof ball bearing type flexibly-coupled to pumps. Single phase motors 3/4 H.P. and smaller have built-in overload protection. Single phase motors 1 H.P. and larger and all three phase motors are furnished with magnetic starters in NEMA-1 wall-mounting enclosures.

UNITS: Unit is factory assembled on single steel base with pump suction piping complete, including strainer in each pump suction line. Simplex unit has one receiving tank, one makeup valve and one pump and motor. Duplex unit has one receiving tank, one makeup valve and two pumps and motors. Triplex and quadruplex units are also available.

OPERATION: Boiler feed pump(s) is controlled by a boiler water level controller mounted on the boiler. These controllers are usually furnished with integral low water cut-off and alarm switches. Boiler feed water is taken from the receiver, and if condensate has been lost in the system, it is automatically replaced by the makeup valve.

Modifications List

NON-STANDARD TANK SIZES: Units can be furnished with tank capacities other than shown in the selection table. Diameters and lengths of receivers can be modified where required by space conditions. Return inlet height and location can be modified.

GALVANIZING OF RECEIVER: Hot-dip galvanized inside and outside.

SPECIAL RECEIVER COATINGS: Special interior and exterior coatings where job conditions require extra corrosion resistance.

INTERIOR TANK BAFFLES: Built into tank to prevent air or sludge from entering pump suction.

SPECIAL RECEIVER TAPPINGS: Special or additional tappings as required.

MANHOLE: Manhole and bolted cover for clean-out and inspection.

DRAIN VALVE: Tank drain connection can be fitted with bronze drain valve.

EXTERNAL FLOAT CHAMBER MAKEUP VALVE: Mounted on end of receiver with 3-valve by-pass piping to permit manual and automatic makeup water control. Has built-in strainer.

SOLENOID OPERATED MAKEUP VALVE: Furnished with reverse-acting float switch in receiver to actuate the solenoid valve. Requires electric service for operation and is furnished with makeup water strainer. Can be furnished with air gap and 3-valve by-pass, if required.

CORROSION INHIBITOR BAR: Magnesium anode bar in the receiver to inhibit electrolytic corrosion; with drip-hole to indicate when bar has been completely corroded and requires replacement.

FEED WATER HEATERS: Submerged perforated brass feed water heater pipe, operated by temperature sensor and regulating steam valve.

SPECIAL THERMOMETER: Standard column type can be replaced by special thermometers as specified.

NON-STANDARD MOTOR CONTROLS: "Hand-off-Automatic" selector switch, pilot light and control circuit transformer for motor starters; waterproof or explosion-proof enclosures for starters; combination magnetic starters and disconnect switches, plus combination magnetic starters and circuit breakers.

PRESSURE GAUGES: Pump discharge pressure gauges available.

NON-STANDARD MOTOR ENCLOSURES: Standard enclosures are drip-proof. Totally enclosed and explosion-proof enclosures are available.

TRANSFER SWITCHES: To alternate pump operation or transfer pump-boiler relationship in multiple-boiler installations.

CONTROL PANELS: Control components can be mounted on factory-wired wall-mounting or floor-mounting panel, in lieu of individual wall-mounting enclosures.

LARGER UNITS: For ratings in excess of 750 Boiler H.P. and discharge pressures in excess of 200 psig, up to a maximum of 400 psig, consult factory or nearest Federal Pump representative.

OVERFLOW LOOP: An overflow loop can be piped from the tank head, if required.

WATER LEVEL ALARMS: A high water alarm and/or low water alarm float switch can be furnished in the receiver with alarm station and/or pump cutout circuit.

GATE VALVES: A gate valve can be installed in each pump suction line, if required.
