Features

SP systems are pre-assembled and pre-wired units which provide steady water pressure in buildings having varying water demand and variable street pressure.

The system includes close-coupled pumps, control valves, a temperature purge valve, copper suction and discharge headers, header pressure gauges, lag pump pressure control, pump isolation valves, a steel base, and a control panel (the panel comprises a fusible disconnect switch and magnetic starter for each pump motor, selector switches, pilot lights, an automatic alternator, transformers, holding circuits and time delay relays). Operation of the systems is as follows:

Simplex System: The pump operates continuously to satisfy the water demand.

Duplex System: The lead pump operates continuously to satisfy the water demand. When required, the lag pump is automatically started to run in parallel with the lead pump until the water demand drops again. The lag pump will then shut down. Lead and lag pumps are automatically alternated.

Triplex Type A System: The first pump operates continuously to satisfy the water demand. When required, the second pump and then the third pump are automatically started to run in parallel with the first pump until the water demand drops again. The second and third pumps will then shut down. Pump sequence is automatically alternated.

Triplex Type B System: A small capacity jockey pump operates continuously to satisfy the water demand. When required, the first main pump and then the second main pump are automatically started to run in parallel with the jockey pump until the water demand drops again. The main pumps will then shut down. Sequence of the main pumps is manually alternated.
